Hair Salon / House / House with Store

Mixed-Use Hair Salon & Residential Building project.

This client has been running a hair salon in the area where they were born and raised. It is here, in their hometown, where they sought a space that integrated both work and living, where the residential and business spaces are adjacent but maintain a thoughtful balance of distance and relationship.

The location is a typical corner of a developing neighborhood.
While the site conditions are uniform, approaching the design with a neutral perspective reveals interesting discoveries. We progressed with the design process by considering each of these discoveries equally and thoroughly.

While following regulatory code, the necessary rooms were placed in appropriate locations, stacked together, and topped with a single large roof, resulting in a simple composition. Every element, from the floor, walls, and ceiling to the roof and materials, was carefully reconsidered countless times to ensure their harmonious relationships and integrity.

As a result, a large volume of space was created between the roof and the living area, connecting different spaces and allowing light and air to flow through the gaps, creating a rich and vibrant environment.

Although the initial requests were abstract and vague, through repeated discussions and thoughtful deliberation, these ideas became clearer, and the desired vision was ultimately realized.
